What is Massacre.io?

A free multiplayer horror game you play in your browser. One player is the Butcher and hunts. Everyone else hides, runs and tries to escape. It's dark, you can hear him before you see him, and the streetlights die one by one.

Is it free?

Yes. Nothing to download, no account needed. Ads only show between rounds, and all you can unlock is cosmetics, never an advantage.

How do I play as a survivor?

WASD to move, Shift to run, mouse to aim your torch. E opens doors, hides you, and uses the fuse box. Space vaults fences and windows, and holds your breath while hiding. F switches your torch off. Q uses an item.

How do I escape?

Find 3 fuses, put them in the fuse box by the gate at the east end of the street, and run through the gate. You also make it if you're alive when the timer ends.

What happens if I get caught?

The first hit wounds you and gives you a burst of speed. The second turns you into one of his minions, and you keep playing on his side. A teammate can heal you if you've been wounded.

How do I win as the Butcher?

Catch more than 60% of the survivors before the sun comes up. Space or click to lunge, E to search a hiding spot, and walk into doors to break them. Sprinting survivors leave footprints only you can see.

How do I play with friends?

Press Private Room and send your friends the link. The host can set the round length, switch bots on or off, and start early.

Are there bots?

Yes, to fill empty spots. They are always labelled [BOT].

Is it too scary for kids?

There's no gore. The scares come from darkness, sound and one sudden mask on screen when you're caught.
