PRIVACY POLICY

Last updated 7 November 2026

Massacre.io ("we", "us") runs the Massacre.io game at massacre.io. This policy explains what we collect when you play or contact us, why, how long we keep it, and your choices. We collect as little as we can: there are no accounts, and we never ask for your real name to play.

What we collect and why

WhatWhyHow long
The name you choose to play underShown to other players in the round. It is filtered for offensive words.Only while you're in the round. It is also kept in your own browser so you don't have to type it again.
Your moves and key presses during a roundTo run the game: the server works out what happens and tells each player what they can see and hear.Only in memory while the round runs. Not stored.
Chat and emotesPassed on to the other players in your room after filtering. Not stored.
Your IP addressTo connect you, and to stop abuse: limits on connections, and bans. For these we use a one-way scrambled code made from your IP address (a keyed hash), not the address itself. The code is held in memory while you're connected. If you're banned, the code (not your IP address) is kept until the ban is lifted.
Web server logs: IP address, page requested, browser type, timeSecurity and fixing faults.14 days.
Game events: a round started, how many players and bots, items used, disconnects, reportsTo balance the game and keep it running well.Kept without your name or IP address.
Player reports: the room, the names involved, the scrambled address code, the reasonSo we can review cheating and abuse.Until it has been reviewed, at most 500 reports, cleared when the server restarts.
Contact form: your name, email, subject and messageTo answer you.Until the conversation is finished, then deleted within 12 months, or sooner if you ask.

What stays on your device

The game stores a few things in your browser's local storage, not in cookies, and they never leave your device unless noted: your player name, whether sound is muted, your chosen server region, and your profile (level, experience points, stats and unlocked cosmetics). Clearing your browser's site data removes them, and your progress with them.

Clips you save with K are recorded in your browser and saved straight to your device. They are never uploaded to us.

Cookies and advertising

The game itself does not set cookies. We show, or may show, adverts from Google AdSense on this site. Google and its partners use cookies and similar technology to show adverts, to limit how often you see an advert, and to measure them.

Read how Google uses information from sites that use its services. What Google collects is covered by Google's own privacy policy, not this one. We never give advertisers your name or email address.

If you play Massacre.io on another games site, such as Poki or CrazyGames, that site shows its own adverts under its own privacy policy.

Who else handles your data

We do not sell your personal data.

Our legal basis

Under UK and EU data protection law we rely on our legitimate interests to run the game, keep it secure and stop cheating and abuse; on your request when we answer your messages; and on your consent for personalised advertising where the law requires it.

Children

Massacre.io is a horror game meant for players aged 13 and over. It is not aimed at younger children and we do not knowingly collect personal data from them. If you think a child under 13 has sent us personal data, contact us and we will delete it.

Your rights

You can ask to see the personal data we hold about you, ask us to correct or delete it, object to how we use it, or withdraw your consent. Because we keep so little, and most of it only by a scrambled code, we may need to ask for details, such as when you played and the name you used, to find anything. Send requests through the contact form. You also have the right to complain to your data protection authority; in the UK that is the Information Commissioner's Office.

Changes

If we change this policy we will update the date at the top of this page.
